Customs-Bonded Warehouse Space

A customs bonded warehouse lets you store imported goods without paying duty until they are withdrawn. Submit one request and compare 3 to 5 quotes from bonded partners.

What it is

Bonded warehousing is storage inside a facility licensed and bonded by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Duty, taxes, and fees stay deferred while the goods sit, generally for up to five years from import.

If the goods are re-exported, duty may never be owed at all. A Class 3 public bonded warehouse is the common option for shippers who don't want to run their own bond.

Who needs it

  • Importers with duty-heavy goods that sell down over months
  • Companies re-exporting part of an inbound shipment
  • Shippers holding product while tariff classification or licensing is resolved
  • Alcohol, tobacco, and other high-duty commodity importers

How pricing typically works

Bonded space is quoted per pallet position per month like normal storage, with a premium for the bond, the recordkeeping, and the customs oversight.

Expect additional line items tied to customs activity: entry and withdrawal documentation, per-withdrawal fees, inventory reporting, and any broker coordination. Handling is still quoted in and out per pallet.

Frequently asked questions

Clear terms. No cost. Your choice.

01How long can goods stay in a bonded warehouse?

Generally up to five years from the date of importation. Most shippers withdraw well before that as inventory sells or ships onward.

02What is the difference between bonded storage and an FTZ?

Both defer duty. A foreign trade zone allows more manufacturing and manipulation and has no time limit, but carries more setup and compliance. Bonded storage is simpler for straight hold-and-withdraw. We can quote either.

03Can I withdraw partial quantities?

Yes. Withdrawals are made in the quantities you need and duty is paid only on what leaves. Confirm the per-withdrawal fee in each quote, since it varies by partner.
